You really think 1.1 million can feasibly leave a city three times as dense as LA in the middle of complete electrical loss, food and water shortages? In 24 hours?

You know how many are about to die just getting out? How many will die because they couldn’t get out in time?

Tens of thousands. The ones who do make it out will be homeless and destitute. More dead. Food and water situation in the south is going to be abysmal. More dead.

And I would be utterly unsurprised if the city is never returned.

You think there’s anything that can be done? Get over yourself. It’s a war. Israel has to do what must be done, as swiftly as possible. You know that, based on what Hamas has said and done. You know when you’re pushing this pro-palestine narrative, you’re conveniently leaving out all these problems. You’re defending terrorists that shoot and burn babies.

You think what Hamas did to those Israeli children doesn’t deserve response? You don’t believe Hamas will work ceaselessly to destroy Israel? Israel is defending itself. It’s a war. Hamas made it one. Destroy them as swiftly as possible. Civilians will die, as happens in every war. Quit crying about it.

Any settler with citizenship elsewhere should leave, stolen land given back to Palestinians, massive reparations paid, and the current Israeli government dissolved and replaced with a single Palestine government fairly representing all.

Barring that, at least stop genociding Palestinians, that would be a decent start.

It’s not like they’re attacking Israel for no reason - they’ve had their home stolen, their people slaughtered, and what’s left of them concentrated into a small, extremely dense outdoor prison. Their violence is only a reflection of Israeli violence.

            That’s what could be done.

So you demand that Israel be destroyed. That’s what this is. Your pro-Palestine stance is nothing but an anti-zionist, anti-semitic position masquerading as love. Israel has the right to defend themselves. They have the weapons to defend themselves. They declared war on a terrorist organization, who committed acts you have yet to denounce. Brutalizing babies. Invading homes and murdering people, uploading it on their Facebook. You’re defending all of that. If that’s the case, I hope Israel is successful, and you haven’t given a single reason why I shouldn’t. There can be no one-state solution with Hamas next to them. There can be no two-state solution with Hamas next to them. You know this, but you don’t care, because you demand Israel be destroyed. There’s nothing to say to you then. I support Israel’s right to defend itself and that means destroying Hamas. If you think the nation with the strength to defend itself should just roll over and suicide, keep crying while Israel does what it must. I bet they’d love to go back to their homes and not have to worry about any of this, but they aren’t allowed to.

Are you excusing the terrorist organization that invaded Israel and brutalized babies, including shooting and burning them? That’s what you chose to get on the internet and defend?

Are you propagating fake news and zionist propaganda? Please provide an actual source for burned babies.

I choose to defend the side of the colonialized not the apartheid state. But hey agree to disagree 👍

No, I won’t. You know it happened, that’s why you demand a source, pretending if I can’t produce one that you’re justified in your position. You’re not. You’re a liar, and an abuser, a defender and sympathizer of terrorists. Disgusting. If you insist someone be destroyed, I’d sooner it be the ones who refuse to live in peace. Good riddance.

I saw a post that made something very clear to me:

The size and population of Gaza is comparable to Montreal or Philadelphia. The actual cities, not their metro areas.

Well, about 15% more people because this was a rough approximation.

Imagine telling the entire city of Philly “I’m going to need you all to scootch to the south end so I can airstrike and invade the North half.”

Imagine Montreal, but walled in. With no power or water.

I have no idea what Israel should do about Hamas’ atrocities, but damn.

The only solution to the “atrocities” has always been: to end apartheid, stop genocide, and give the Palestinians back their land. One state, secular, for all peoples and religions. One Palestine.

Before European Zionism and Britain, Jewish people, Muslims and Christians lived in the region in peace. Palestinians are also the direct descendants of the Jews and other Canaanite peoples that lived there, since before the Romans. They just changed their religion with time, like it happens all over the world.

An ethnostate based on settler colonialism and genocide can’t be accepted.

Putting aside the insane logistical effort required, is Hamas just going to conveniently stay in the north to get bombed?

I think it’s about leaving their resources behind, like weapons, plans, and bombs. The tunnels are already collapsed due to the deep bombing, so if hamas wants to move anything, it will have to be done so in plain sight.

      Yes.

Hamas, which controls the strip, told residents to stay put, and vowed to fight to the last drop of blood. By Friday afternoon there was no sign of any mass exodus as Israel prepared its onslaught.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

JERUSALEM/GAZA/TEL AVIV, Oct 13 (Reuters) - Israel’s military chief said “Now is the time for war” as his country amassed tanks near the Gaza Strip ahead of a planned ground invasion to annihilate the Palestinian militant Hamas group that rules the enclave and was behind deadly weekend attacks.

On Friday he was due to meet Jordan’s King Abdullah and Mahmoud Abbas, head of the Palestinian Authority in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, as part of a Middle East tour aimed at stopping spillover from the war.

America’s top diplomat, Blinken planned to visit key U.S. allies Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates - some with influence on Hamas, an Islamist group backed by Iran.

Israel’s parliament approved Netanyahu’s emergency unity government late on Thursday, including a number of centrist opposition lawmakers, to display the country’s united determination to fight Hamas.

Japan has arranged for a charter flight to depart Tel Aviv on Saturday for its citizens wishing to leave Israel, Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno told reporters on Friday.

Gazans, mainly descendants of refugees who fled or were expelled from homes in Israel at its founding in 1948, have suffered economic collapse and repeated Israeli bombardment under a blockade since Hamas seized power there 16 years ago.
