Keep an eye on memmy. It’s planning on being cross-platform, but I haven’t gotten it to build for android yet.

I hope some of the reddit apps migrate to lemmy. I used Infinite, so it would be my preference to see come over.

afaik, jerboa’s the only option. I actually like the UI for lemmur, but it’s abandoned and doesn’t seem like anyone’s forking + updating it so for the time being, we only have jerboa.

I did see a toolkit that translates reddit API calls to lemmy API calls, which might be useful if any reddit app dev has any interest in translating their app to work for the fediverse, but I’m not sure how likely that is

Lemmur exists, but is no longer maintained. I have seen a couple of posts of people making apps, so I’m sure more will pop up before long

Not sure why this thread exists when it’s the same as what’s in the sticky.

Either way, we need more clients.

Jerboa’s v.0.0.34 alpha version from their GitHub is better than the Play Store release. It’s still alpha, of course, so caveat emptor, but it’s been pretty stable for me so far. Some features are still missing. Browsing, searching, and joining other communities and instances is still either impossible or very limited on Jerboa. For that, you’d need to do it on the website.

Speaking of using the website, another option is to just install the mobile version of the site as a PWA (just go to Menu > Add to Phone/Home Screen in your mobile browser), or use an app like Hermit to create a standalone version of the mobile site.

Other than those, there are no other native apps for Android that I know of. There was lemmur, but it’s no longer being maintained so I can’t recommend it.

Edit: Oh, I just remembered that some of the Reddit 3PA devs were considering porting to lemmy, kbin, or other Fediverse stuff. Would be amazing if it happens.

Most web browsers have an option to make a website into a pseudo app, and I’ve been using that.

Jerboa has potential and I’m excited to see it mature, but honestly the web app is a better experience atm.

I’m using Lemmy but will switch to sync (previously sync for reddit) once it gets Lemmy support.
