I would say it’s sad, but it really is for the best (at least for me). kbin and Mastodon (haven’t tried Lemmy) seem to be super promising and fill that same need for me. So far, I’m feeling incredibly at-home on the fediverse
Just started on kbin so I’m still trying to find my way…how is kbin moderated? How will it prevent the scammers, bots and alt-right from screwing up kbin?
It’s basically the same as reddit there. Magazines all have mods and there’s admins for each server when mods don’t do their job (well, one anyway). For content from other servers, it’s up to the moderation of that server, but admins can block the whole server if they need to.
Biggest risk is probably that as far as I know, there’s only a solo admin for this instance, which is the biggest one by far. And with federation currently disabled, this will remain the biggest server for the foreseeable future (personally I’m pretty skeptical that federation is a good thing and think centralized is the way to go).
