The recall comes a year after Future Motion took issue with the CPSC’s calls for recall and claimed that it tested and found nothing wrong with the Onewheels.

Yeah, nothing wrong with zooming around on asphalt at 20+ mph on a tiny board with minimal steering and braking.

Yeah I can’t really see anyway that would be safe.

Sounds like the system then crapped out at at points of high speed and stress, to further add to the danger.

Honestly, if you’re not pushing a one wheel as fast as it can go, they’re not bad. The problem is the “push back” that happens when you approach speeds too fast for the motor is very easy to miss. I’ve been riding my one wheel for years now and have only had it dump me off once, and that was the first time I rode it and tried to go quicker.

That being said, with the nature of it always balancing, if any little thing goes wrong with the motor, battery, etc. You’re in for a bad time. I try to always wear a helmet and gloves when I’m riding. I also never let anyone else ride mine unless they’ve ridden one before.
