I have a trip booked for March 18 to stay at a hotel in the city center. Me and my husband, both Canadian. Should we cancel the trip due to recent cartel activity?
We spend a lot of time in Mexico but not in Puerto Vallarta. When there are incidents of this type things tend to get back to normal very quickly, usually in less than a week. Nobody, including the cartels, wants to kill tourism in their home towns.
You do know that cartels occasionally take international travelers.
I’ve spend years in Mexico, but am always glad to hear from a real expert.
I can’t say what you should do, because I have no idea what’s going on the ground there. But I have been in a situation where we decided not to cancel a trip. Lots of cancellations all around that weekend, means less business and we were treated very well.
Reminds me of the guy who deliberately took vacations in countries that just had a major disaster or negative event, because everything was cheap and he was treated very well because they were desperate for tourist money.
