Worth noting anyone stumbling in here who’s non-christian: My views on this topic have little to do with my political views. I believe in religious freedom for the secular world, which includes maintaining the legal recognition of same sex marriage as legalised in the United Kingdom in 2020 by a democratically elected government, but I obviously want the Church to adhere to Biblical teachings and not kowtow to the secular world.

Anyone here who is deceived by common lies that homosexuality is not a sin (and sin, as defined in Christianity, going against God as found in The Bible):

Yes, Paul was talking about homosexuality

And yes, it was about consensual activity

Romans 1:27

and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.

There is nothing in the greek that indicates this had anything to do with paedastry or child abuse either.

I just don’t see the harm in gay guys having safe sex with each other. It seems more like a rule straight guys make up when they see something they don’t like than a rule a loving, compassionate God would be responsible for.

Except you aren’t God. The nazis didn’t see harm in killing Jews “they are subhuman”, the rich didn’t see the harm in holding onto their wealth “I earned it”. People think it’s okay to destroy the earth and her climate, oppress foreigners, etc. Good thing we aren’t the final authority on all things because we can convince ourselves that wrong is right. “My body my choice” is also a popular secularist slogan.

God knows best, and He prohibited homosexuality several times throughout both the old and the new testament, as well as extramarital sex and adultery. Marriage between man and a woman is a picture of Christ and the Church. Homosexuality does not represent His divine plan for humanity. To practice it is an abomination to His creation.

What brick would turn to it’s builder and say “I jump out of this wall and will try and function as a roof tile because I know best”. It’s illogical. We even see AI rebel against humans and think it knows best. It doesn’t.

      Romans 9:20-21

But who are you, O man, to answer back to God? Will what is molded say to its molder, “Why have you made me like this?” Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for dishonorable use?

At the end of the day, God is Love. So practicing homosexuality or denying the danger sinful aspect of it isn’t a loving act.

The Church of England is a Christian Church. Paul wrote a large portion of the New Testament, which is infallible doctrine.
