I might get a cheap, used Asus and give it a go. I’d love to have a phone that’s not restricted by Google or Apple.
With all the crap about Google trying to lock down Android, I’m seriously considering that my next device will be one that I specifically choose to be able to run something like this just so that I can ditch Android entirely.
I know they since softened their stance and say they will let advanced users still install apps outside the App Store, but I don’t trust them at all.

Nah, it’s just I remember when Ubuntu Touch was first a thing. I was so excited for it.
Tried Ubuntu Touch a few years back. Seemed to be very much undercooked.
