Not sure if anyone on here works for any of the major Canadian grocery chains however if you do, could you clearly show everything that is made in or comes from the USA. That way we know to buy anything but those items. If I can’t easily tell, I’m just avoiding it but that might mean I’m missing buying things that are either Canadian or any other country of origin because I mistakenly think they might be American. Then again, my shopping is currently running less than it was in 2024 mostly from avoiding buying things, so maybe that’s a win?

I keep forgetting to buy a bunch of little American flag stickers and sneakily pasting them beside products made in USA in stores

Canada here. I was able to buy oranges (clementines) from Egypt, Morroco and Peru up until about a month ago. I now noticed all of the oranges and their types are all USA in all stores (Safeway, Superstore, Costco and local). Is this a seasonal thing or some sort of strong-arm business going down?

I would guess it’s seasonal and based on availability. It seems to change regularly.

The whole “Canada only lives because of the US” comment reaffirmed the need to keep removing US presence from my life.

American here; in January 2025 I moved all my stock market investments and bond investments away from US/domestic products to European/international markets. I do what I can to not shop at corporations that support fascism too. I’m doing everything I can not to fund my own oppression.

Fifty years ago, maybe the Russians. Today? Basically just USA. Russia probably still would, except that they’ve used all their resources on their 3 day special military operation.

Detrumpify? That is brilliant! Does it include all European countries? I haven’t heard of an app yet here, maybe there is one, if not, there should be. I use an app called “no thanks” but that’s for another kind of boycott.

We’ve been keeping it up. The only thing we’ve really been using have been some tech stuff (youtube, etc).

The other day the only lettuce was from the US. I didn’t say anything to the store, but from this day forward I’ll be a fucking Karen and speaking with the manager.

The only products i buy from the states is mustard, because it is extremely cheaper than French’s. And cream of broccoli soup gtom Campbell’s, because no other company makes broccoli soup. And that is all. Unless black cherries go on sale, because that is imported from Washington.

My apples are from my province, grapefruit from South Africa, I check the packages of everything.

I don’t know anyone who ramped “down”. We’re still buying local cranberry juice instead of orange, and are quite satisfied with all of our Canadian alternatives and substitutes, and happy to go on for a very long time simply doing without when there isn’t. This is not a fad, or even a protest, at this point. It is simple patriotism. Supporting Canada’s economy to ensure our sovereignty.

On the other hand the grocers here act like fucking barons, turning the screws on people who have trouble making ends meet. Maybe closer to vampires than barons.

the same grocers that lie constantly about where good are from with their stupid little Canada leaf logo next to the price that they keep increasing? or perhaps the ones that love to collude and price fix all the products… wait, it’s the same ones.
