My work situation is greying and killing me faster than my body can withstand. And so, I’ve updated my resume and started putting feelers out there which means recruiters have been reaching out

Nearly every message starts with “I hope this message finds you well.” Honest to doGs truth, I think I’m genuinely going to have a cerebral aneurysm. 🤯

I’m normally pretty easy going, but a few things can still get to me and this is one. Perhaps I’ve even been sent an amazing opportunity which deleted these because I c a n n o t stand seeing that phrase. WHY?!

[insert indiana jones raiders melty face gif]

Yeah. I know i am opening myself up to people saying this in the replies. sighs

How about this? Share with us what one your favorite birds is and why? I like that. Birds are nice. They bring happiness… unlike my soul-sucking, anxiety inducing job.

I hope this message finds you, and in the darkness, binds you.

Robins. Because they stay with us all year long, no matter the weather.

Ha! Now that’s the way to start a message.

Robin’s are fun! Im well acquainted with American Robins, but have met plenty of European Robins as well. They are not closely related but share an orange belly. Ive always found European Robin’s a tad silly looking. There’s something about their shape that is unusual to me. If they only knew that I laugh a bit every time I see them.

Nuthatch. Just a happy little bird.

Junco. Comes around to keep me company when the others go south.

You know, it took me a long time to realize that many of the birds i was seeing were actually juncos! I kept misidentifying them. And I still occasionally fail to distinguish them from other birds of the same size. I love them though! So pretty!

I hope this message finds you well.

My favorite bird is a Cassowary, one of the few birds that could likely kill you if it wanted to.

They are genuinely nuts. So cool. And prehistoric looking still.

      Have you ever seen one?

Two favorite birds come to mind!

I think pigeons are really neat. When I lived in denser cities I loved seeing the different patterns and colors. White with black speckles (I think of them as “cookies and cream”) are my favorite.

My other favorite is the nuthatch! They’re so cute. They hop down tree trunks and are really fun to watch! They make little peeping noises as they go, too. They’re super cute.

I have many favorite birds it turns out. Tufted titmice, dark eyed juncos… female cardinals are so beautiful too! I love birds.

Also, recruiters are seriously the worst!

        Yeah it’s very cute

Fun fact: it’s the national bird of Guatemala and the name of their currency is also Quetzal. Apparently old indigenous chiefs would wear a quetzal feather on their head. Also it’s endangered.

Raven, Just always liked them. Ever since I was little I’d imitate their caws and clicks. They seemed intrigued and often followed me around.

Always loved hummingbirds, bluebirds, woodpeckers and all raptors. Ravens seemed to like me back.

Do you see ravens often where you are? I’ve never seen them outside of zoos. When I say raven, I mean the larger varieties since people often intermix the terms. We have loads of crows. Corvidae are great. So smart. If you feed them regularly, they’ll bring you gifts! Same with other varieties like blue jays. I’ve also been able to meet some kinds of magpie over the years as well, which are a beautiful variety. 💜

Raven’s are everywhere here. Big beautiful bastards!

I do feed them. When I catch a mouse in a trap I usually throw it on my roof as a free meal for the birds. My roof is rather high so it often attracts great horned owl too. Rarely do I get to see them but they can make a bit of a thump when they land. Pretty big sky cat.

When I’m out lake camping if I see a raven i might give them a fish head if I have one. Try not to give them people food.

I was coming home from the bar pretty late once and there was this stump in the middle of the road, so I slowed down. As my truck got closer the stump turned and looked at me and spread it’s wings. Swear it covered a whole lane. With a couple flaps it was airborne carrying it’s dinner. Biggest bird I ever saw.

Had a friend that used to rehabilitate owls locally. In a barn that in my younger years I had to clean up for community service. Any way I got to meet some baby great horned owls. They are damn cute!

For some odd reason this makes me think of the movie Office Space:

Peter: Let me ask you something. When you come in on a Monday does anyone ever say to you, “Sounds like someone has a case of the Mondays”.

Lawrence: No. No, Man. Shit, no, man. I believe you’d get your ass kicked saying something like that.

Naturally. And no one would lift a finger to help you. 😏

There’s a handful of phrases that I hear in the office world that make my skin literally crawl.
