not only not make things better; but worse w intention when i comes to climate change.

20 years ago; when enough people still cared about climate change; we wanted solar/wind/geothermal energy, but we collectively stopped giving AF because it’ll loosen the ruling class’ control over us and doubled down on fossil fuels since then.

There are anonymous ways to make this kind of information public. Kudos to her for doing it, but make sure to protect yourself, too, so that you can fight more effectively tomorrow.

This kind of information is fundamentally not anonymous.

Without video evidence or any other kind of specific details, it is “fake news”.

Video evidence is pretty easy to pick up on security cameras and, in the case of the christofacists, flock cameras.

And specific details tends to narrow things down drastically based upon what floors what cleaning staff were working on and who was working the front desk when the bus full of proud boys arrived.

And understand that the burden of proof for “completely unrelated retaliation” is MUCH lower than in a court of law… on Law & Order SVU or whatever.

Which is an important thing to understand. VPNs/TOR and the like are a lot closer to wearing a face mask (because you are sick, obviously) and not showing people your driver’s license. It does nothing for your fingerprints if you aren’t wearing gloves. And it also does nothing for people figuring out who the 6 foot 3 dude with the Outdoor Research jacket who was last seen putting on a mask in the parking lot was.

This is why it’s important to build networks well ahead of time. Then you can tell someone on Signal who doesn’t know who you are, “Hey, I happen to have learned that …”, and “It might be a fine idea to have some people get on site there or otherwise publicize this”.

Fun fact: you too can work for these places and be a supporter of the cause.

They fire you? So what? You’re akin to the resistance who slowed down the Nazis.

    And these jobs aren’t careers.

I’m sure these guys are real pleasant in the hotel, too. Loud, drinking, cursing, arrogant, hitting on the staff, staring at foreign guests, etc. I doubt they act like civilized humans off duty, any more than on.

So if you’re going to quit your job, and go work at another hotel that doesn’t cater to Nazi psychopaths, you might go wanna go out with a bang.

I’m in full support of this employee and their actions. However, I have a hard time getting too upset at the owner of this Hilton franchise because the right thing is probably firing the employee no matter whose identity they leaked.

Edit: I get it, unpopular opinion that goes against the hivemind. But if you take out the fact that this was ICE related, the action itself is fireable. I’ll reserve my anger for companies that explicitly help ICE.

And again, kudos to the employee here. Brave act that took guts.

let’s just be clear that it is 100% morally acceptable to leak details about literal nazi operations

yes, if this happened to most other groups, then the appropriate thing to do would be firing the employee. I do not disagree. but the key point is that it happened to, again, literal nazis.

this is not an in group or out group thing. this is a “these people literally do not believe your life has any value and will kill you for it without a moment’s hesitation and be cheered for it” thing. you cannot tolerate the intolerant.

Agreed that it’s 100% morally acceptable. I’ll go one step further and say there is the moral imperative to do so.

But although I would agree we’re seeing gestapo like tactics here, they are not literal nazis. And that’s not to downplay their reprehensible behavior, only to say “literal” and “nazi” have meanings, and these aren’t quite it.

the politics of this administration clearly fall under Neo-Nazism ICE is an enforcement arm of this administration, hence they support the administration and fall under the same label

I’m really not sure why you would think that they can not be classified as Nazis

I stand behind my use of the term literal Nazis

Do you think Nazis arrive in fancy dress, worn by grotesques and monsters as played out in endless re-runs?

              ICE is a neo-nazi organisation.

Neo-Nazi individuals and organizations employ their ideology to promote what they perceive as the racial or ethnic supremacy (often White supremacy) of their own group; to incite or engage in hatred or discrimination against demographic minorities (often antisemitism and Islamophobia); and, in some cases, to establish a fascist state (e.g., “Fourth Reich”).[1][2]

              https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neo-Nazism

In colloquial conversation that is a Nazi. Of course they’re not Germans from the 1930/40s, you’d have to be an extremely obtuse pedant to be arguing that.

Lol, I think someone should explain what “full support” means, preferably with crayons. Your comment shows you’re the stereotypical person in movies who goes along with the Nazis because that’s “just what everyone’s doing!” It’s unfortunate you’ll never understand what the “right thing” truly means…

You’ve hired her and letting her live with you?

No? so “full support” isn’t literal and is whatever you say it is?

I never said I like the decision of the hotel owner, only that this isn’t the one to be upset over.

You seem to think companies are going to do the right thing. I’m just happy when the don’t do the overtly wrong thing.
