You know going into the military is tempting for us youth. It gives immediate wages and training which is hard to come by. When I was young though I used to say. Hey. You are signing something that if they say kill someone you will do it. I often got things about how well, you know, the us is not going to be doing anything bad and ask you to kill innocents or such. This was before iraq but after viet nam so I would point out viet nam and how there is nothing stopping it from being worse. This is the kind of thing I worried about. They made the peace core and the americore but they never gave them the same benefits. Only if you kill.
Enforcing a naval blockade against a country is traditionally considered an act of war, which would require authorization by Congress under the US Constitution. Last week, the House voted on a War Powers Resolution meant to block Trump from launching a war with Venezuela without congressional authorization, but it failed in a vote of 211-213.
Maybe congress shouldn’t have given up their power to authorize wars. The default should be “no war”, requiring a vote have one. Not the other way around.
