Amazing feeling.
It’s kind of like when Mastodon started to take off. Hopefully it’s self-sustaining.
I’m really interested to see what will happen on July 1st, when Reddit cuts off API access.
Reddit sustains on having go-to communities.
Public freakout is inherently entertaining.
Wallpaper board. Even if you don’t use reddit, you likely went there for wallpapers.
Emulation and console hacking. If these become main discussion points on lemmy, less will go to reddit first for the info. Same for crypto. Same for Linux enthusiasts, knife collectors, car nuts.
We need that instant “I’m sure Lemmy would know” mindset that we already have with reddit.
More friends! 😄
i dont think they’re cutting it off completely, just charging for it, and it’s gonna be stupidly expensive
It’s effectively the same as cutting it off for third party apps. No small-time app developer has 20 million lying around.
They’re trying to profit as much as possible from the AI companies that want to scrape user data, and throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Killing third party apps are just a nice side benefit as they can get more eyeballs on ads.
yea it’s 100% basically the same thing. i hope they’ll see that it won’t go over too well with the community
I just found the “New” tab!
I always watch “New” comments and posts, so I don’t miss anything ^^
I honestly had not even noticed that Feddit defaults to “Active”. :-)
It’s fun to be apart of this community. Hoping it continues to grow!
It really reminds me of Reddit circa 2012.
A little wilder but also a little more innocent so it balances out.
What does the active tab do? Like what’s the difference between hot and active
Its explained in the documentation.

Works fine here. Are there any more details about the error? Does another browser work?
I don’t know, honestly. I didn’t even realize there was a hot tab ^^ I only ever used active and new. Someone for sure will know what it does.
I don’t know either, but I think hot probably sorts by posts with lots of recent upvotes whereas active probably sorts by amount of recent comments?
Yeah probably. For now i’m gonna use active but when/if lemmy ever becomes huge I’m gonna sort by top of day instead like I do on Reddit
