I’ve had a couple of posts that didn’t really fit neatly into existing subhaws, that might be better suited to something like this, but what do people think? Lemmy.ml has Antiwork, I think, but I sometimes get a little nervous about posting things there.

Humanities is kind of a catchall. There are several communities that overlap with it, like Feminism,LGBT+,Creative,Music…

any “work” or “antiwork” community would likely be heavily duplicated in scope by the proposed socialism community we might gain in the near future, so i’d defer at least until we know whether those users will be interested in joining the site

I mentioned this in a previous thread before the short term memory wipe of the weekend, but I hesitate to post anything in DIY because I presume it’s for home renovations and I don’t do that. Maybe, if we can add stuff to a sidebar, we can say “Make it, Fix it, Renovate it, Rehabilitate it - just as long as you’ve done some of it yourself, share!” or something. In my community chat we have distinct channels for “maker-space” and “home-projects”, of which the latter is the “I gutted my bathroom and I’m in way over my head”, and the former is “look at this 3d printed dildo laser cannon I made”. Maybe that’s all we need - examples in the sidebar? If lemmy even allows for that, that is.

I’m not sure why you’re nervous about posting on a federated instance that has the channel you need. Is it a moderation thing?

In general I like to rely on federation and don’t lean towards “duplicates” on several servers, but I also understand the very different approaches per instance :)

(Also, while Antiwork exists there, I think a Work channel would be useful! You know, at least until the Revolution…)
