I’ve done a 180 on /s tags. I used to think they were cringe. Now I just get exhausted by Poe’s law with so many outlandish opinions online. Even the Onion fails to be absurdist enough to be obvious satire these days.

/s is for people who don’t know that the person is being satirical or sarcastic because the lack the context of intent. For a lot of users the community, user’s instance, or other context provides that context in a fairly reliable manner, but it isn’t perfect.

I don’t bother with it, but it makes sense conceptually as a way to confirm intent.

              /s

You make an excellent point. Anyone requiring “/s” to recognize sarcasm must indeed be an idiot. After all, tone, intent, and context are inherent in written text. When prose is clear and precise, misinterpretation simply doesn’t occur. The reader’s failure to perceive subtext is a personal shortcoming, not a limitation of the medium. It’s comforting to know that digital communication, unlike speech, conveys irony with perfect fidelity. Truly, misunderstanding is only for morons.

Everyone will become disabled at some point in their life. If you’re lucky it’s at the very end but it is as certain as death itself.

    Edit:

Dear dummies saying “bUt in SudDeN aCCiDeNtS” learn about Planck time and shut your dumb faces no one cares about your technically incorrect yet still obnoxiously irrevelant to the larger point nitpicks

Im about as anti trump as it gets, but that is misleading. Watch the video. Trump gets up to help almost immediately, and then decided there was already enough people crowding the guy. Not only that, but immedietely after Trump decided against helping because it was at best unneccassary and at worst an active detriment(imagine donald j trump trying to help you in a medical emergency, absolutely terrifying), the white house medical staff specifically told trump to stay back. There is soooo much bullshit that trump has done to legitamately endanger lives, but this isnt one of them. In fact I would say this is the one time he made the right call that I have ever seen

Ninja edit: although strictly speaking, what you said was 100% factually accurate, i dont want to give the implication i was calling you a liar
