    The lawyer in the video, even if exaggerating, is correct in the sense that Canadians have fewer personal rights and freedoms than the US.

    Our Charter Rights are subject to reasonable limitations from federal and provincial statutes. Most of the time police just respond and act on reports from others such as the case from this video (someone called because the car was driving funny, it just had minor mechanical issues apparently). It helps that despite the fewer freedoms, there are also fewer homicidal maniacs to abuse citizens with these stricter laws than in the US.

    On the road in Ontario, you must present identification and vehicle registration upon request, and undergo a road sobriety test or vehcle inspection if they ask. However, if you are bicycling or walking outside, you are not obligated to identify yourself (aka carding), but they can arrest you if they have reason to suspect your involvement in a crime.
