GrapheneOS and CoMaps Fixing Location Service

If you go into “Location Services” by searching for it in your settings, and turn on “Network location” and “Geocoder”, and also turn on location service on CoMaps, it may help with CoMap accessing your current location.

I have that setting turned off in CoMaps. Instead I turned on my suggested settings in Graphene’s “settings” apps by searching for “Location services” in it, then turning on “Network location” and “Geocoder”.

I used the default “GrapheneOS proxy” option for both of these.

Okay but what about the “location service in comaps” you mention in the post? The only location service I see is the Google fused location service

I’m referring to granting the app location permission, similar to how you would with other apps. I.e., go into the apps settings, and grant permission Or in other words,

hold your finger onto the app icon -> click “App Info” - > “Permissions” -> “Location”.

Well, yeah I’d hope that would be obvious. The app doesn’t know your location if you don’t let it get your location. You also have to grant sensors if you want the compass to work

Its not the obvious “app specific permission” part that I was looking to highlight here. But was a small part I added as a friendly reminder in case for some silly reason may have forgot to enable it.

Its the “network location” and “geocoder” permissions in the “settings” which is a more deep down permission which is far from obvious and not app specific.
