Has anyone noticed that there’s a clear distinction between nice atheists and mean atheists? Nice ones are often intellectual, soft spoken and understanding of why someone might be religious, such as Alex O’connor. Although he may attack religion, he does it in a respectful way.

On the other hand, there’s people who aggressively attack religion with no room for respectful debate, such as the person in the screenshot. I’m not trying to spread hate or anything, but I think being unfair towards religion does it a disservice, and only speaks to those already inclined against it. Why might this be the case? Some people are more comfortable with their (lack of) religion than others. This goes for Muslims, Christians and Atheists. Some people need their worldview to be correct in order be content with themselves. And of course we have to consider how much money attacking on any religion makes.

And a lot of the time, aggressive atheists attack the orthodox opinion, presenting that as the only opinion without even mentioning others (such as the ones on this sub).

Just to make clear, I am totally okay with people that are atheist or other religions, if I can sit down and talk to them and have a chat. If the other person can’t respect my belief, oftentimes it would be impossible to even talk to them.

I can respect Alex O’connor, i’m not sure if I can respect this other person.
