I’ll have to drive an hr and a half each way to get it. He says it’s all been properly stored and no issues. Expires 2034. Should I get it.
Guys I bought it. Opened the buckets to inspect and omg Wow. What a deal this turned out to be. So glad I pulled the trigger. Thank you for the replies.
Probably worth it if you were going to buy similar products anyway, but also keep in mind you are trusting the person stored it according to recommendations. There is a big difference in actual shelf life for items stored in a cellar at consistent 18C vs. an outdoor garage that got up to 40C.
If it’s actually still in date then yes, this is easily worth $250
This feeds 1 person for 30 days with 307 servings… that’s 10.2 servings a day…
They mean NLEA “serving” as in, 1/2 cup fruit, 3oz meat, etc. Not a full meal.
That makes more sense. But makes the NLEA make less sense
hell yeah, $250 is like 10 MREs - that’s a good deal
Man it turned out to be an amazing delay that provided me a lot of security. Thank you for the great advice.
like the old man said as he sold me a $99 rossi ranch hand: holy smokes that’s a deal!
It won’t be worth much unless you have enough clean water stored up to be able to use it…
(during a disaster where water is cut off, obviously! I once made the mistake of buying too much of this kind of thing and not thinking about the water until much later.)
Great advice thank you. I am working on quadruple contingency water plan. Sawyer Squeeze. A Gravl filter cup, water shock chemical, and a Berkey gravity filter as well as water storage containers storing about 40-50 gallons minimum on hand rotated. I have a park right next to my house that has a creek.
Sounds like you’re on the right track to me! I don’t have a nearby creek/river but I do have about 40 gallons of water in 5 gallon containers. It’s tapwater which should be fine since it’s been treated, but I can always filter or whatever if needed. Otherwise I just swap it out a couple times a year for “fresh” tapwater.
Thank you. I have power and food started. Water is my next focus. Any suggestions on how a single man should proceed? Thought about getting a GRAYL Geopress, a travel Berkey gravity fed filter about 4 -6 of these, ‘Reliance Products Aqua-Tainer 7 Gallon’, and a couple Sawyer squeezes.
Is that in caps or skins?
