I hope users in the EU will delay bringing money to Apple.

They will never replace my lovely CMF Phone 2.

Are we supposed to shed a tear? The only thing I’m looking for is some alternative to my iPhone, even very basic and very feature-limited, preferably made in the EU, that would let me ditch that last piece of Apple tech I own… while still being able to easily access the banking and security apps I do need.

I am very tempted by a Jolla phone. Years ago I had a Nokia N9, and apparently they’ve done a good job of keeping the platform alive. It does have a yearly subscription for the OS which is a bit strange, but if it means my phone would last 10 years not 5 then I can get behind that

It’s takes a lot of effort to build from scratch, I’m okay with paying the developers to get the ball rolling. Though my biggest critique of Sailfish is that the ui isn’t Open-Source. Thankfully we have Nemomobile for that.

When I got my original iPhone it wasn’t because it has more features than the competition - it was because it had less but better implemented. These days new “features” seem to mostly involve making the experience worse in pursuit of ever more money.

I’ve not bought an iPhone in fifteen years.
