I bring this up all the time, especially with Menthol cigarettes and flavored cigars being in the news recently because the FDA missed its own deadline for banning them. They specifically mention the flavor bans are because children like flavors, WTF, you gonna ban a coughdrop-tasting cigarette but still sell me Cotton Candy Vodka? How fucking hypocritical.

Beyond that, getting drunk has become a “fun” event when you’re young or hanging out with friends. It is also so prevalent in movies and tv…

Agreed, especially young adults who get drawn to it thinking “drinking is cool” or something you do when you become an adult, that, has to stop.

Alcohol is way more ingrained into society though, we’ve been getting drunk for most of human history!

White sugar ESPECIALLY, just like the white bread, people, please go for brown sugar jaggery, wheat bread, the white ones are worse for health and very processed.

I can’t even get unrefined brown sugar. Only refined brown sugar which is just white sugar with molasses added back in. That said, it’s a myth that brown sugar is ‘healthier’ for you. The amount you need to actually see a ‘benefit’ still means it’s horribly bad for your body’s it’s best to eat natural sugars from fruits and stay away from anything manufactured/processed.

I’ve recently cut out sugar and breads and all dairy. It’s so damn hard…

Actually as an indian, I made a stupid mistake of suggesting brown sugar, which is as you said, nowadays refined and processed in some way as well.

What I WILL suggest is, jaggery

This is what I actually have been using recently for a good while now, brown sugar is up there for back up, been a long time since I actually used it.

The best thing is simply exclude simple carbs. Jaggery or wheat bread still contain lots of simple carbs, and not much healthier. The glycemic index of gaggery and suggar, for example, are about the same.

It can be actually counterproductive to think that jaggery or wheat bread is healthier and it it more because of it.

Unfortunately for the average person practically, sweet is something that is needed in a lot of places, like Tea or coffee, or other sweets, and in such cases, jaggery is way way better than use of white sugar.

And of course, eating too much of sweet, overdoing it, now that is a whole other topic but that can be applied to almost everything, overdoing is never good, and we should always keep it at a limit.

very nice to hear, but unrealistic out there in the real world, for most people out there, they’d probably not eat something if it either doesn’t have a little bit of sweet or spice in it, depending on what food it is. It’s a major addition to the food’s flavour and edibility, if I am making sense here, for example: You can drink a chai with no sweet, but it will be terrible, it won’t be good without alteast a little bit of sweet.

So yes, it is not needed but wanted technically, but that really don’t matter when taste is something people give importance too.

And you need to understand, there are some food dishes that are mean’t to be sweet or spicy to a certain level, that’s just how they are made. Again, can you make them without the sweet or spice? yes, but will it taste just as good? Probably not, and that’s being conservative.

So there is nothing wrong in using sweet or having a bit of spice, as long as both is done in moderation, and for that, using something like jaggery is way better than white sugar.

Virtually pure sugar. There’s no outrunning the carbs, and to make it worse, most other sweet things have their own issues.

Edit: of course, honey is still fine in moderation. It’s just not necessarily generally better than any other form of essentially sugar.

When in moderation, honey is certainly much better than white sugar! Especially if we are talking about authentic natural honey with no added preservatives! White Sugar is just poison, it’s just extremely processed and not healthy.

    Doom-scrolling.

Life and the world isn’t that bad. Like, in some parts it is, but people need to understand that you alone cannot exactly control everything on how they work. They’re going to happen anyways. The media has, for decades, successfully ingrained people’s minds and mentalities to believe everything must be bad by the minute and to always expect the worse.

But if you stop doom-scrolling for prolonged periods of time and realize this, things aren’t as bad as projected.

I’m going to sadly have to go with Porn here, I think it has unfortunately become a very normal part of the upcoming generations young life as they grow up, it sucks kids of today are being exposed to these things earlier than older generations were.

Time is a social construct. You can’t lose, waste or gain time. It’s just a thing is humans invented to better manage our lives.

Time is part of objective physical reality measured by instruments. Humans discovered time, not invented it.

Lol. Everyone dv the correct answer. Cycles existed, but humans did indeed decide to break smaller cycles into smaller cycles and measure them. Tbf, probably both perspectives are correct, in different contexts. I need to think about this longer- much longer.

            Time is a social construct

And your entire life is inside that social construct. It’s just raw denial to suggest otherwise.

And how bastardized their perspective on social activities and being in public can get.

Masturbate and consume porn too much, next thing you know, you’re gazing at people’s asses, crotches and breasts imagining all sorts of fantasies you’d like to do involving them.

People expect sex within the first date. It could get worse from there.

As an adult woman, porn is very beneficial to my sex life. So maybe the problem isn’t porn so much as it is children’s access to it.

That is surely good for sure, I am not against that in any way, but there are some young adults who are locked with porn which really is fictional and taped, and they can often be bad at real relationships, especially if they get extremely addicted to porn, using porn to help with you sex life is great, but it shouldn’t get to a point where it’s doing you no good with real relationships. Hope I am making some sense here lol

Alcohol is by far the most detrimental drug to both individuals and society and yet is the most socially accepted. Of course that last part is why it’s the most detrimental.
