TL;DW:
Nvidia’s RTX 5050 is a waste of your time, money, and trust as a tech consumer and PC gamer.
Please consider buying a used GPU on Ebay, Kijiji, or anywhere else you can as you will get a much better deal than this.
As a monopoly with 92% marketshare, Nvidia is actively choosing to deceive consumers to buy whatever they’re selling.
If you want a GPU anywhere vaguely near that price-point, buy an Intel Arc B580.
The last generation of GPU and CPU had no improvements, right? They’re putting all their efforts into ai?
AMD CPUs and GPUs are great.
Nvidia wants you to buy a new gpu every year, so they are trying to force this AI (ML) upscaling/frame gen horseshit into games so they can sell you a new “improved” version with a new GPU generation.
For mid range GPUs maybe. But CPUs and high end GPUs aboslutely had an improvement.
Ryzen 9000 series and Intels Core 200 series didn’t really up performance too much, but they did reduce power consumption by a good bit. But the 9800x3d CPU is an absolute beast. https://gamersnexus.net/cpus/rip-intel-amd-ryzen-7-9800x3d-cpu-review-benchmarks-vs-7800x3d-285k-14900k-more
Maybe if you look at price per fps, otherwise they did have improvements.
AMD’s 9000 series specifically targets better RT performance (edit: that’s on top of overall architecture improvements), plus they get some new software (FSR4, RIS2), same with NV software, but compared to AMD their midrange is even more disappointing. But if you’re only worried about value, 7800x3d (or 7600 on the budget side) is still king, and buying a (tested) used GPU is still a better option.
We still haven’t seen all of Intel’s generational range, so far they look p cool
Glad I got a used AMD recently
Not a graphics card guy, but this thumbnail is art
