Car stalled after braking, I think I forgot to use the clutch. I then promptly failed to start the car somehow, not sure how but I was rushing a bit. This situation could have turned out so much worse and I fully thought it would be my first crash from a rear-end but bless the drivers behind for keeping a safe distance. I thought I might have missed seeing the deer but on rewatch I think it was blocked entirely by the truck until the last moment.

Yep… glad you got through that.

Sorry to patronize but hope this instills in you to keep pace with the car in front with a healrhy amount of distance. And look where your car will be in 3 seconds, 5, 10, 15 seconds from now. If you see an obstruction, brake lights, you can start slowing down, and you’ll have time to react to prevent the rear end collision. If a deer just jumps out suddenly then, well, there’s little anyone can do but you see it takes every person on the road to avoid collisions, because mistakes get made, some drivers don’t know how to drive properly, and unexpected things can happen.

When I see all lanes of traffic have brake lights on simultaneously, I get on the brake right away - but that’s much easier to see when you’re doing hindsight on the internet.

Glad nobody got hurt, thanks for uploading!

Very glad to hear that you are OK.

We all make mistakes, there are always surprises from road users (including pedestrians, animals, cyclists) behaving in ways you do not expect.

**Number one rule of driving; Don’t try to occupy the same space as someone else.

Number two rule of driving; Always assume road users are all idiots…

Number three rule of driving; …including yourself.**

All the driver-assistance systems in the world cannot help you there, because they are also programmed by idiots.
