So many people here are always pushing this “they’re all the same” bullshit and it’s starting to get very fucking tired.

          It is so goddamn disingenuous.

You misunderstood me, possibly because you were telling me to go fuck myself on another post. “Assaultpotato” is a voice of reason on this post. People read a news story about the Supreme Court staying an order and now want to impeach the whole Court?

I’m afraid the politics and news communities hosted on Lemmy servers are falling off the deep end.

It was one commenter and the following comments rebuking them are much more highly upvoted. It’s maybe a bit early to stick a fork in it.

              Well. Yeah?

They’re powerless, they might as well not exist. The only purpose they serve is keeping even more fascists off the Court.

You say that, but majorities across the board are razor thin. Assuming there’s still midterms a lot of this can be flipped.

The courts of course will be harder to fix

Yeah let’s get rid of them, especially the liberal justices, so they can be replaced by… Donald Trump?

Say what you want about Kavanaugh but I’d be willing to bet he’d look like a Boy Scout compared to whoever Trump would nominate today.

How is that weird? Getting rid of these justices ends exactly how I described. Unless you get rid of Trump first then removing SC justices will just put you in an even worse spot.

All the SC justices since that is what the article you’re commenting on is about. Not sure why you think anyone who can’t read your mind is weird. That idea is the only weird thing I see going on in this conversation.

BTW, I could not connect this headline to the stay announced yesterday which everyone had already commented on. That’s how bad this headline is. Deportations became “abductions” and “disappearances.” Now they’re “human trafficking.”

I hope this rhetoric plays better with the general public than “weird.”

What do you call it when people in plain clothes, wearing masks and refusing to identify themselves as law enforcement literally abduct people (and their fucking terminally ill children), and put them on a flight to a prison in a country that they have never been to and have zero connection to? What is that called?

This is literally human trafficking. Go fuck yourself for acting like this is in any way normal.

If they actually were law enforcement, it’s called deportation. The fact that they go about it in scummy ways is important but doesn’t make the rhetoric accurate.

The way the deportations are happening is not normal.

This is not how deportation works, as evidenced by the fact that the Supreme Court heard the case in the first place.

Up until this decision, this is never how deportation has worked. They changed the definition here.
