Canceling NordVPN was a pain. It took numerous emails across numerous days for them to cancel and remove my credit card info. Lesson learned, I only pay with PayPal where I can revoke permission for recurring payments or pay with crypto. Went expressvpn to the cheaper nordvpn then to proton unlimited
FYI many credit cards will allow you to make virtual numbers which you can then use for individual purchases or groups of purchases. They were originally meant to help combat fraud but I use them for subscription services so that if they give me a hard time about quitting I can simply cancel the card number and file a dispute (which in my few experiences has always gotten me my “overage” fees back)
They were trying. I couldn’t believe the shit they had added to my plan. Even if I wanted that shit (I don’t), how am I supposed to take advantage of it when I don’t know to set up and configure it? Completely changed my opinion on Nord. I don’t have a VPN currently. Any recs? I only need it for two things: very rarely when I want to torrent something (normally I just pay but there are certain exceptions when I’ve already paid for something but want no DRM shit, or bought a physical copy of and need digital) and because I’m not in favor of the current political regime and status quo. Not that I think I’m good enough to really hide myself from the govt, but I’d like to make it take more effort.
iPhone and Linux.
Proton VPN has been solid for me. I already pay for their email service so no sense in paying another VPN provider. I have iPhone, Linux and Windows devices and it works great on all three.
I’ve been very pleased with Mullvad for the reasons you cited. It’s based in Sweden and has endpoints globally. 5 Euro/month, no autorenew, and you can buy as much time as you like at once. Sometimes I do three months, and if money’s tight, just one.
I have no idea how but they auto-renewed mine as well. If I wasn’t the type of person to pay close attention to my finances I wouldn’t have noticed.
That’s being said, it was very easy to cancel and refund the purchase.
Meanwhile Amazon gets away with it???
