Not super tech savvy, please bear with me. Hope this isn’t the wrong community to post this in, couldn’t find much on here.
No idea why so many people don’t care about this but, these things are extremely sensitive, stupidly so considering how expensive they are, I’ve been very gentle and careful with my QD-OLED monitor, used clean microfibre and no chemicals or anything, and there’s already small tiny little microscratches in the areas that got smudges and what else on them and that I had to clean. It’s thankfully not too severe but still a majorly bad sign for what’s to come, am not happy with this. Lord help me when this thing inevitably gets dust on it, no fucking idea what to do about that…
I’m considering a screen protector but there’s nothing for this at all other then old monitor specific stuff on Amazon and the like, also heard about heating issues with these things, apparently they don’t play well with protectors? Also affects the image quality I hear. Do I have to get a custom one made? Where? Is there something I’m missing? I don’t want this thing to keep scratching up by the smallest of day to day things, burn in is already enough anxiety for me with this thing haha, I also am gonna have to pack it up and move it around in the near future so not something I can gloss over, need a solution to this or it’s gonna bite me in the ass sooner then later.
A screen protector for a device you’re not supposed to be touching is a little excessive. I’ve also never scratched a monitor without being really aggressive (or just dropping stuff). I’d look at what’s causing the scratches.
What sort of micro fiber cloth are you using? The shitty flat kind that comes with like screen protectors, or the big fluffy kind? Before you wiped the screen did you double check there was nothing stuck to the cloth? The big fluffy kind are magnets for anything and everything. If dust can scratch car paint I’m sure it can scratch a computer monitor. And make sure you’re never using any pressure.
Honestly all the precautions about washing a car should apply to a monitor. Except don’t use a foam cannon on your monitor. Maybe just hit it with some compressed air first.
