Happy Indigenous Peoples Day to everyone. I know right now there is not much cause to celebrate with the passing of an Ontario government Bill 5 and Federal Government Bill C5 that directly threaten First Nation lands, people and rights.
We’ve always dealt with issues, events, changes and developments … it’s become our ongoing legacy to constantly fight and we are and will continue to fight on.
What everyone doesn’t understand is that we are not just fighting for ourselves, its a fight to protect the future of our people and of all Ontario and all Canada as well. Unrestrained and uncontrolled resource development only destroys the land, air and water … the same land, air and water we all share no matter our race, group or identity.
It’s also a fight for the future, as from the quote from Wendell Berry …
“We do not inherit the earth from our fathers, we are borrowing it from our children.”
The quote is often attributed as a wise old Native saying or proverb but in actual fact the modern quote comes from an environmentalist in the environmental, ecological movement.
Saying the environment to save ourselves and the future generations to come is not just an idea central to First Nation belief systems … it’s a belief system by those who can see beyond the length of their own lifespans.

Why do some people think culture can be inherited genetically but criminality is entirely a social construct eventhough one clearly has more brain correlation than the other. My ancestors were aboriginal (I won’t use made up terms like indigenous or native because historical evidence shows those are farcades) and someone sent this to me. Made me really think. I only see myself as Canadian the same as any black or white Canadian. Nationalism is so much more unifying.
Just so I understand what you’re saying here, you’re saying that Aboriginal people are genetically predisposed to being criminals? Are you aware that is, without exaggeration, something the Nazis believed and used actively to justify atrocity? Textbook eugenics

Canada has had the worst per capita GDP growth in the 38 countries of the OECD losing to inflation since 2015, and some people think that could hurt people via defunding our social safety net and basic infrastructure, including the tens of billions that go to indigenous people. I dont think its so simple as you make it out, and more of the same would be a death knell for Canada.
One way to help the Canadian economy would to just tax the hell out of the ultra wealthy. Not the middle class, not even the wealthy class … just the ultra wealthy and break their strangle hold on everything.
The tax revenue from that would be more than enough to offset any losses. But what do I know, everyone just continuously believes that if we just let rich corporations, investment bankers and the ultra wealthy do as they please without control, that all that wealth will save Canada.
Canada actually has a problem with productivity investment, likely because we have too high of taxes, and due to capital shallowing due to our mass immigration.
