Spent all weekend working on her and the Elden Beast. I was determined to beat her before the ending. Yesterday I got up a little early and grinded a few quick levels to use Black Flames Protection. After a long ass day, eventually I finally sat down, loaded in…
And whooped her on my first attempt.
With any luck I can figure out a way for me to deal with the Beast and then its on to Shadow of the Erdtree!
Thank yall for all the great advice here and on other forums, if it wasn’t for the community it would’ve been a much different experience playing through. But goddamn im having fun.
💜
Great job!
Nice!
I recently went back to elden ring and replayed it. I had missed her on my first game so i did NG+ and wasn’t leveling so i could still help people at the end of their first playthrough. I got so close on my 2nd attempt and then she murdered me like 30 times. Next day i beat her first go. Ive since successfully helped over a dozen people beat her, though many of them died to her waterfoul dance 😅
I haven’t decided if i want to get the DLC or not. Might wait for a sale
Also, at the end as long as you don’t begin NG+ you can still go through and do stuff and start NG+ later. You’ll just be locked out of some stuff in leyndell since it’s Ashen Capital now but that happens after maliketh so no difference for you now one way or the other.
Ooh so I was thinking about that damn Radagon+Elden Beast fight omw to work. I’m playing a Dex+Fai Bloodhounds Fang Bloodflame setup, pretty standard I think. But im lacking any ranged damage, which makes the Beast phase quite tough. I’ve seen the cheese with the bow and I may resort to it, but I’d rather not. I wanna kill it with my sword.
Is this finally a good use case for Blackflame Blade over Bloodflame? I’ve leaned on the latter most of my playthrough (after respeccing from my early Str+Fai Miner Pick setup), and after getting both spells it seemed like Bloodflame pretty much always won - nearly the same cost, longer duration, and the buff is strong enough that if I needed any advantage Blackflame held over it, the answer was really that I needed to git gud.
But with Elden Beast you’ve got a LOT of waiting and running. It’s clearly a marathon, not a sprint. If I wait and cast Blackflame right before rushing in, is that a better use of my resources? It feels like it, but i don’t know the crunch well enough.
What are your thoughts for this kind of setup against the Beast? My talismans are mostly stacking various defenses, physical, non physical, holy, and… I forget my 4th off the top of my head. A Flame Blade spell, Golden Vow, Blackflames Protection, and Fire Give Me Strength or a heal/status heal as my flex choice. Is there a really solid option im missing without having to go too much deeper than my 30 Faith? I believe i started as Bandit so my Int is 7 and Arcane is 11, my intention was to pump Dex and level everything else as needed.
Have you tried charging with Torrent then dismounting into a jump attack?
With the raptor shirt and jump talisman and a second Curved Greatsword (Morgott’s sword to stack bleed with Bloodhound Fang) you can drop some serious hurt.
That’s what worked for me on Elden Beast, just jousting with jump attacks 🤣
Good luck and congrats on Malenia, that’s the real accomplishment
FIRST TRY OF THE DAY BABY THANK YOU!!
Edit: didn’t have the Raptor shirt when I went looking, I must’ve sold it like a dingus early on. Oh well. Got Claw Talisman, used Torrent. Had put like 5 more into Vigor too, which allowed me to tank a crucial Holy attack (the huge AOE) with just enough. On to Erdtree!
Oh, for anyone stumbling on this later, 50 Vigor is a good spot.
I shall give that a try! And thank you :)
Elden beast is absolutely doable without cheese and just melee. You’re right that it is more of a marathon. In NG I did a 2H greatsword build, and in NG+ and NG++ ive used dual greatswords.
Haven’t a clue about that specific sword or faith builds though, I love my greatswords 🤣
For talismans a must have is the ritual shield imo. I also run physical damage res and for that fight holy res can be good. These days i just run the jump attack talisman and the equip load one (cuz dual greatswords at lvl 125 ain’t light!).
Ooh I missed that talisman, grabbing that asap. Thanks! Maybe I’ll try double greatswords instead of 2h Bloodhound. I tinkered with double twinblades earlier but missed the reach and didn’t care for the attack timing when I was learning bosses…
It’s all about what you like and your playstyle. Dual dex build is probably easier from equip load perspective you just wont hit as hard per single hit but you can still shred stuff as long as you know how long you have between attacks. Elden beast itself pauses for long periods. You just have to chase it and know how to avoid some of the more dangerous attacks
I’ll tinker with it when I’ve got time for sure, thanks!
Also sorry if you get odd notifications for a sec, I accidentally blocked you lol
