Look. I just stumbled past here. I genuinely dislike Christianity and many christian folk. But OP’s take/meme is genuinely so progressive compared to all the majority of religious views. Maybe just be supportive of positive change or shut up. Often direct and volatile opposition to someone’s views makes them dig in harder and lean more on their community. You’re really showing your ass and shooting yourself in the foot all at once. Don’t make everyone look bad please.

Pretty sure it’s actually people like you that I see spewing overt hate most often.
They obviously made their point in a hateful way, but that doesn’t mean you get to spike that football. If you stacked up all the hate that comes out of Abrahamic religious institutions and all the hate that comes from non-religious people and atheistic institutions, it’s not even close. Even if you compared per-capita, I’m willing to bet it’s on another order of magnitude.
It may be true, but I live in a very secular country. And still, hate is everywhere. I’d say that religious institutions give a space for hate to express itself, as they tend to be conservative. But they’re not the cause of this hate; when they disappear, hate just find an other space.
So, when a religious institution fight its own conservative tropism, it’s a net gain for the whole society.
Sure. Human nature has a lot of ugly sides, and human nurture is not in great shape either, these days.
Nobody’s out here saying it would be a utopia if there was no religion. Perhaps the best we can do is accentuate the good, give the bad less room, and try to encourage everyone to hold themselves to the highest standard they can manage.
