    On the plus side, (I can imagine) Mariah May is retired, with a career that will remain untarnished by whatever jobber nonsense they’d have made her do in NXT.

    Wow. They really just do not care about women’s wrestling at all, huh?

    Honestly, if any incoming woman should have kept her name and gone straight to the main roster, it’s Mariah fucking May, who came in directly from being a main event talent for AEW. The fact that she’s being treated like this says so goddamn much.

        I feel like, if they saw the value in her name, they would have worked out some kind of licensing agreement or something so she could retain ownership and they could still use it. They’ve done it for plenty of other wrestlers.

        And it’s telling how WWE is the only promotion with this “we must own your name” gimmick. Even other major promotions, like AEW and NJPW, somehow manage to promote talent without having to rename them.

      Yeah it’s the NXT Special™, same with all the big names who show up. If you go to NXT, you get paid the NXT pay until you hit the main roster where you’ll get main roster pay. She won’t be in NXT for long so she won’t be getting shortchanged for long either but I’m wondering what her actual main roster pay will be in comparison to what AEW was paying. If she doesn’t get at least $1mil then, then I’m gonna laugh.
