Muslim women are only allowed to expose their face and hands according to the traditional understanding, and even the face is a lot according to some who order women to cover the cover the face as well. Many sheikhs become angry if a few strand of hair get exposed.
But Christian women don’t have such strict, rigid dress code for them, as you can see in the right picture, dress like this where they don’t cover their arms, legs, head, neck would be accepted as modest by their Churches. People on this subreddit won’t find any immodesty in them either, but a lot of Mainstream Muslims surely do.
What is the reason?
So the comparison is between FUNDAMENTALIST Islam, and not fundamentalist Christianity. Up until relatively recently women weren’t allowed into church without a head covering. More relaxed forms of islam don’t require a hijab or head covering. Look up pictures of Iran before the current dictatorship came in. Women with no head coverings or hijab on the beach in fucking bikinis. One might argue that it’s more about not allowing women rights than about religion. If the US doesn’t kick this fascist fixation probably expect dress code for women to come back.
Edit: and looking at your account you’re looking for mods on a Christian com. Are you making a bunch of progressive_xreligion coms, or are you making a disingenuous comparison between strict fundamental religion and somewhat progressive religion?
Edit edit: I am clearly a dumbfuck…hijab IS the head covering. Burqa is the outer garment that covers the whole body and the full face barring the eyes as pictured above.
