Guys! They’re not racist, they’re just concerned about how much metal was used to make it when it could’ve been used for prison chains. It’s just a question of practicality!
Racists ass racist people.
Racists being racist huh?
Slow news day?
Never heard of the statue, but why a statue of a generic black woman? Why not Rosa Parks or Katherine Johnson or Harriett Tubman or whoever?
You don’t really see many statues of generic people.
Or they do a faceless figure to represent many people at the same time. What throws me is the modern clothing on statues. She’s wearing a T-shirt, it just feels too casual for a statue.
I think, given the first sentence if your statement, casual clothing represents more American women than formal. If we’re going with the representation of the common woman and their plights, a faceless woman in casual clothing covers more ground.
But, I’m commenting before reading the article. 🤷♂️
Edit: the article is short and addresses everything in this comment thread. Also, I highly suggest you take a look at the article. It contains images of posts with edited images mocking the statue with blatant racism, and they’re sickening.
It’s apparently asking what we value in a society, so a generic black woman in casual clothes?
Call me Sherlock, but I haven’t figured out this mystery.
Should have made it a 50ft statue.
Just stamp a confederate flag on it and then watch their heads explode trying to protect while demanding it taken done.
