Separating from Canada is the stupidest thing a province like Saskatchewan or Alberta could do. Both provinces have significant overseas exports, yet both are land locked.
I’m disappointed that this is still a conversation, though this bill does seem somewhat sensical.
international law covers that. landlocked nations have a right to reasonable and non-discriminatory access to the sea. and those nations between them and the sea have a duty to allow it.
If they join the US they won’t be landlocked though. Make them ship their products south to access the ports.
Honestly, this shouldn’t even be a thing. It’s way too easy for a foreign power to manipulate these sentiments for nefarious purposes. If you really want to join another country, you are more than welcome to go there and apply for citizenship…but you don’t get to take the land with you. Just like you can’t sell a property without the permission of everyone else on the title. It belongs just as much to the rest of us, as it does to you.
