I find it interesting that Carra has to mansplain it to us.
“Tearing down historic buildings is unfortunate,” says the man who is deeply embedded in the Real Estate industry, has pushed harder than anyone for increased urban density, and was censured for sketchy ‘off-the-books’ realty deals.
Yeesh, that’s unfortunate.
Honestly this should start a rush to declare anything over 80 years old in the city a historic landmark. Sure, on the one hand we need to add density to the city, but by no means should it come at the expense of our history.
I really hope that we can maybe start working on how to establish projects that reincorporate the old into new, like ones where the inside of a building is gutted, but the exterior is built into the new development.
