As a Canadian who does the shopping for my family, it’s so easy and imperative to not buy American. It just isn’t safe. It hasn’t been safe for a long time, but now its just outrageously dangerous.

What do you do for lettuce and broccoli? I’m struggling to find lettuce that isn’t from the USA.

I keep an eye out, Ontario grows a lot of greenhouse stuff. When I can’t find local I look for Mexican. If there is US only, I do without. Let it all rot.

Find a local farmers market. Guaranteed fresher product. Locally grown so less travel. Support a small business. Get a much better greens experience.

It’s often not just fresher produce, but substantially better tasting as well. I can’t go back to grocery store tomatoes after getting the local ones.

That’s because typically when tested against grocery store/mass produced food it is found to be much higher and diverse in nutrients.

My local grocery store has been carrying Alberta greenhouse grown lettuce and cucumbers, and Manitoba greenhouse tomatoes for over a year.

There is no testing anymore for food products in the US. All those who were responsible for testing have been fired. All imports to Canada are affected because testing on fresh food items aside from a few items is done in the US.prior to import. That testing is not repeated in Canada.
