Russia has informed Brazil’s aircraft investigation authority that it will not probe the crash of the Brazilian-made Embraer jet that killed mercenary boss Yevgeny Prigozhin under international rules “at the moment.”

I know this is a cynical, unhelpful reaction, but here it is anyway: Who cares? A war criminal who’s effectively a dictator killed another war criminal an his buddies. So what.

It was a small private plane, not one full of civilians. The pilot’s widow is suffering more than anyone else here, but a corrupt, dishonest “investigation” wouldn’t do her any good anyway. If she makes too much noise or tries to go after the people responsible, she’ll mysteriously “fall” out a window.

This is unjust, but it’s also par for the course when you’re dealing with a scumbag like Putin.

Edit: The story above doesn’t give any info on the pilot. Here’s where I found it https://www.cnn.com/2023/08/24/europe/prigozhin-wagner-russia-plane-crash-explainer-intl-hnk/index.html

The crew commander of the Embraer plane was an experienced pilot who started his career flying multipurpose L-410 twin-engine short-range aircraft, his wife told Russian state TV channel RT.

Svetlana Levshina – who said she learned of the apparent death of her husband, Alexei Levshin, through the media – told RT he had been educated at the Sasovsky Civil Aviation Flight School in the Ryazan region and the St. Petersburg Academy of Civil Aviation. He also worked on the Antonov An-2, she said.
