    Dear Palm Spring, I kinda appreciate the sentiment, so I’ll give you the polite version:

    Get. Fucked.
    This is about as tone deaf as asking early 1939 Poles why they’re not vacationing in Germany as much.

    Like seriously, fuck all of this shit.
    A random town telling me they welcome me with open arms (or likely, my money) doesn’t make me feel welcomed, at all.
    Not when your fucking country is threatening annexation, waging economic war on basically the whole damned planet and just deporting random people for bullshit reasons.
    I’m sure some folks from that town are genuinely nice, victims of this dumpster fire too, and it sucks for them I guess, maybe they don’t deserve it, but it’s completely irrelevant.
    They have no power over whether ICE will fuck up the entire rest of my life.
    It won’t do nearly enough for me to know they’re might be some random Palm Springer feeling bad about me or my family being deported to some gulag to rot.

    With all the love I can muster, sincerely, stop trying to woo me and fix your fucking shit.

    I’ll feel a lot more welcome if you put a progressive Dem into the President’s seat and bring a progressive Democratic majority to power in Congress.
