Religion needs to be kept far away from politics, thankfully in Canada that’s mostly the case.

We should not pretend like Religion doesn’t have a stranglehold on Canadian politics or Politicians wouldn’t argue about the “Morality” of life saving medical procedures in good faith because there is no good faith argument against providing life saving medical treatments to your citizens.

I feel that Stephen Harper’s religion should be discussed here, since he’s still pulling a lot of strings in the CPC. Harper is, for those who don’t know, an evangelical young-earth creationist.

It’s nice to see that secularism is now the default for Canadian politics.

Religion is fine so long as it’s “my religion says I can’t do so-and-so.” It becomes problematic when it becomes “my religion says you can’t do so-and-so”.

Unlike in the U.S., religion is not a major factor in Canadian elections. And the faith of Canada’s party leaders does not typically make the news.

    As it should be.

This article doesn’t do anything to serve that goal.

Earning condemnation from Campaign Life Coalition is an extremely low bar. Case in point: even Poilievre cleared it. I don’t know what could possibly warrant even mentioning the opinion of a gossamer-masked hate group.
