I am not trying to trivialize it, but what I know as a USian from seeing rot take hold after 9/11 and slowly eat away the foundations of my society is that if you let fascists tone police everything so that discussions are “serious”, they win.
You have to mercilessly make fun of fascists, on all the fronts that they are insecure, and beat them over the head with it, even as brutal things are happening because otherwise centrists begin to believe these people and shit gets very dark.

My buddy is traveling down in the states right now and with the new rules about stays longer than 30 days he is cutting his trip short by four days in order to avoid that 30 day mark. No calls to customs or talks with any authorities could answer his questions because none of them know what the actual rules are going to be until they are instituted a few days his trip ends.
