This is an anonymous account and I can say these two were actually role models for me.
For real. I was watching these when they were coming out new, with my son, and I thought “this is a children’s show but the writers know what’s going on”
A lot of oldschool cartoons are like that, surprisingly deep. They have adult fans for a reason.
Animaniacs and freakazoid were thick with societal criticism
The Tick is up there too
Duckman also, at least that first season
A golden age indeed
Pinky was the genius, his platform would probably be generally good tbh.
I don’t know Brain, how about we back-tax multinational companies what they owe and use the money to fund schools and housing? Narf!
As a kid I thought Brain was the shiznit, but as an adult I kinda wanna just be a Pinky.
Pinky succeeded the one time Brain was out of the way.
Also see: the Invader Zim apocrypha.“Oh no. We’re not stopping twice. We’ve got mostly orange Pinky at home.”
Pinky may be stupid, but at least he was kind.
I thought it was always implied Pinky was the genius, and Brain was insane.
I’d hear Larry’s platform
fair.
