Literally an oxymoron and trust me, I know because I have seen more of it than any of you combined.
It’s mostly all based on: we must make leftist cry. Such seriousness, the very core of it is fundamentally a joke.

No wonder right leaning instance is just shitposts and memes galore. This is basically what modern conservatism is.

No wonder right leaning instance is just shitposts and memes galore.

A conservative visiting lemmy would say the exact same thing. The difference in my mind is that right-wing memes mostly leave me thinking, “No one says or believes that. Fuck you on about?”

Same thoughts I have talking to conservatives IRL. Having only been presented with the most outlandish fruitcakes, they’ve brainwashed into thinking there are legions of fucking nutcase left-wingers out there.

For left-wingers making fun, yeah, the memes more often reflect what the right actually says and believes.

(Yes, I’m biased, but I try really hard to be objective.)

As a budding radical centrist I hate every cuck winger with equal passion. The left however has some merit to protect the minorities and at least in theory aims to reduce inequalities. The far left are bunch of unfunny idiots however

I don’t know, but it is always very entertaining. It provides sufficient level to stave off boredom in apotheka queues or waiting for mini paint to dry out

Internet is PvP CoD mobile without shitty controls. Centrism is like the most funny cheesy class in this digital sandbox of pointless eternal arguments

As for my real views I guess that would be what makes me the most money and convenience at the moment if I am brutally honest. Some kind of trans matriarchy capital paradise party. Let’s call it technofeminocapitalism? but generally I vote mainstream left out of pragmatic necessity. They don’t care about economic leftism after all so it aligns with my interests and goals considering I am in the upper class after all.

If I were in the lower class I am not sure if I would vote at all. There seems to be no party that cares about the wage workers

Did it occur to anyone that “triggering” those who have had or are on the verge of a complete mental break could exacerbate the issues? Like do we really want to be the straw that causes a suicide or mass shooting?

Yes I actually tried joining a few conservative communities for rational and productive discourse. The “progressive” mods deleted my good faith posts and comments, brigaded and made outright hostile comments. God forbid people seek common ground and building bridges, rather than do the exact things we get upset with “the other side” for doing. They certainly have me not rethinking my values, but certainly rethinking with whom I want to align for the greatest good of our people as a whole, regardless of political leanings.

Unfortunately the only common ground online right now is toxicity, group-think, and mutual hostility. That said, I honestly think outreach to most people on the right is a waste of time, at least online. I’ve tried to educate people for so long but the cult mentality is too strong to overcome. Maybe a more relationship-centered approach could work, I haven’t tried this. But that would take a huge amount of energy and effort.

You’re generally right about group-think and hostility, but the couple of good-faith exchanges I had with right wingers may have gotten a couple of snarky replies (maybe pre-emptive defense from being heavily attacked, prior?) but also half-hearted attempts at engagement and addressing my points until the “progressives” came in and did what they do. It’s sad, I don’t even want to alienate others, preemptively, by calling myself that. Leftist definitely does that. And I’m probably some conglomeration of leftist and libertarian (in the global sense, not the Yankee sense) with a sprinkling of anarchism, somewhere in the mix. I’m not sure yet. I’m not exactly in the process of changing my core values, more somewhat refining them into a more mature form. It’s not quite personal anomie, but I haven’t found my solid footing yet on the shifting ground beneath them.

Anyway, thank you for a bit of understanding. I appreciate it more than you know.

There are plenty of conservative spaces online and it’s exceedingly rare where “good faith” and “rational” conversations are possible.

The fact that this one is a satire of that and folks are upset is hilarious to me

Universal Monk was a prolific poster around election time; he had tons of alt accounts that all posted stuff purposely made to divide the left.

After his accounts all got banned for trolling and evasion, he started up the Donald J Musk accounts and repeated the cycle, this time posting far-right fascist content and trolling people with lies, disinfo, and general unpleasantness.

It’s been an open secret for a while that they were the same user based on the MO, but apparently he fucked up and reused a comment.

Their favourite m.o. during election season was sealioning and concern trolling, as well as baiting people into breaking the civility rule and then reporting them. It seemed to me like they were taking pleasure from skirting around the letter of the law while violating the spirit of it.

It was completely incredible at the time that they went on for months without getting banned.

baiting people into breaking the civility rule and then reporting them

ELI5: If it’s bad enough to compromise civility over, it’s bad enough to report to get rule enforcers involved, right?

As for the other two things (the “sealioning” and “concern trolling” parts), I guess I’d need examples here. I’ve seen people called “sealioners” simply for asking for translations, and I’ve seen people called “concern trolls” even over pointing out law violations. It invokes thoughts of what PBS calls “fallacy fallacy”.

Tbh, it appears to me the guy is in serious mental health crisis. Social isolation isn’t great without mh support and tends to exacerbate issues. I’m wondering if it’s simply not affordably accessible to them or if it is and they broke so completely they failed to see the necessity. I remember a post they made about breaking up with their gf and that’s when the alt-right accounts became highly visible to me.

It also leaves open the option to keep being a racist, transphobic, fascist troll though, which will leave the door open to becoming a Nazi bar.

I understand where you’re coming from, but it’s not my responsibility to play nice with the people who are attacking the people I love and those like them.

Something about the abyss staring back, but that’s the beauty of the fediverse. Just like you don’t get to tell me what to do, I don’t get to tell you. I would only urge you to do some soul -searching and follow your best impulses, while waiting to serve the worst or questionable. There are other options such as utilizing block/report.

But I don’t want to see Lemmy turn into a trash site like Reddit, where the worst and loudest are free to harass, provoke, and lie without consequences.

This user has literally dozens of alts he uses to get around bans, so I don’t see unilateral disarmament as a way to keep this particular fascist in check.
