    My old local coffee shop used to sell Canadianos as an Americano with an added 1oz shot of maple syrup. Lovely.

      I… Sorta agree? But at least the Americano is actually named after America, while to french is just a way of cooking.

    They’re called americanos because the Italians (or perhaps the Spaniards according to some sources, the etymology is unclear) were making fun of Americans for drinking weak coffee. Much like we’ve historically made fun of them for drinking weak beer.

    I say we continue calling them americanos.
