I just finished S2 after basically inhaling all the episodes. I think it was an absolutely marvelous ending for an incredible S1. I probably need to watch it 2 or 3 more times, then read up some lore to fully understand everything. Maybe I am just glad a show didn’t butcher their endings (Star Wars(E7-9) or Game of Thrones), but I feel very satisfied about the ending. What are your feelings, what do you think?
I loved it. I loved the whole series, but Jinx’s fate still hurts.
I wrote a rather gushing blog post about it the night I finished it. It’s all so beautiful.
Very nicely written. “Every Frame a Painting” is so true.
S2 was good. It was however nowhere close to S1 in terms of quality.
I disagree with the ending being marvelous. I think it’s not at the level of the rest of the show.
For me the show is 10/10 expect the ending scenario. It brutally shifts from local class war (which was core to the scenario from the beginning) to a battle for humanity, it uses a very classic time paradox trope, and it has incoherences. I would give it a 6/10, maybe.
I think they were too tied up by the Game IP requirements (show those playable characters, don’t kill these, make those nice etc.) and/or maybe budget, so they abandoned plausibility and proper pacing in order to close the stories on the agreed upon schedule.
