    I wonder if it’s something to do with location? Maybe the nuggets change based on country (such as some ingredients and preservatives being illegal in some countries)

    I got no idea tbh just guessing why they did this

      That’s exactly what it is. G Maps uses geolocation and the McD app likely already bundles G Maps into it so they’ve just used that instead of adding a redundant dependency.

    How is this news? You realize that McDonald’s operates in multiple countries around the world? And that each of those countries has their own regulatory body requiring its own specific ways of displaying nutrition information? And that McDonalds sources their meals and tweaks their recipes depending on where you are? American McNuggets don’t taste the same as Canadian ones which don’t taste the same as Thai ones.

        How is that not covered by the comment you’re responding to? Yes they could and should ask for manual location entry/selection if it is disabled, but the story here isn’t “McDonalds relies on Google Maps Location Services [implied for no reason]” it’s “McDonalds doesn’t have a backup for manual location selection if Google Maps Location Services are turned off/blocked”
