U.S. President Donald Trump said Friday he plans to impose tariffs on imported cars around April 2.

Trump made the remark in the Oval Office when asked by reporters about his auto tariff comments earlier in the week.

“Over the next — sometime, maybe, around April 2,” Trump said. "I would have done them on April 1, believe it or not. I’m a little superstitious. No, literally, we had it planned for April 1. I said, ‘let’s make it April 2.’

. . .

The scope of the tariffs is unclear.

Interestingly, some parts involved in auto manufacturing cross the border up to 5 times before being put into a car. Will they be taxed 25% every time they cross from Canada to the US?

Mump is solving the global warming crisis! First slap a tariff on the raw materials coming from Canada to the US for machining, then go through Mexico’s retaliatory tariffs to the assembly plants in Mexico, then this new round of tariffs on the finished product going to car lots in the US.

It’ll be so expensive that nobody will be able to afford to buy a vehicle, curbing emissions overnight! The oil industry will collapse as a result.

There’s a pattern of brewing menace on a Friday afternoon only to downplay them on Monday. Or it’s just me reading too much out of this chaos?

That aspect may just be him + cronies buying the dip as the market adjusts to his nonsense. If only the market could do something for us now 🥲
