There is this huge Confederate flag that flies near my house and the number of times I’ve wanted to set that shit in fire…

Though I fully expect to get shot if I went anywhere near it.

Folks displaying Tr×mp signs and hate symbols in the US are begging for others to come onto their property & vandalize their shit, just so they can do violence against the offenders.

If you plan to vandalize something, please be cautious. I’ve seen FB posts about how they’d love for “liberals to try and take it down so I have an excuse to open fire.”

        Psychotic.

I thought about it, even though my archery skills are near nil

That said, the only way it’d work is if the arrow had a mechanism to grab the flag.

The other way I would do it is if it was a trespass with people with military training who can watch my back while I lower the flag and replace it with the proper Confederate flag.

You can get some fairly high powered lasers commercially, might have some OK results burning flags with one of those? Would have to be a pretty non-windy day though. Do take care though not to be shining it in a way that it could pass through the flag and hit, for example, the eyes of a pilot in a far off plane. As @[email protected] says, a laser should be treated with respect the same as any other weapon, makeshift or not.

While this could work, please don’t go firing a laser powerful enough to set shit on fire randomly into the air. It’s like firing a gun, that laser will fuck up whatever it hits and you don’t know what’s behind that flag. Easy way to kill a plane full of people by instantly and permanently blinding both pilots. I would look into artillery calculations and water balloons filled with bleach. Pretty easy to hit a stationary target with a pi handling trajectory calculations. Paintballs might be another option, bright pink.

That’s far, far too respectful in my opinion, but I can’t think of a better option that doesn’t risk blocking the sewers.

Free speech for fascists, censorship for rainbows—Utah’s latest legislative masterpiece. Banning Pride flags as “political” while greenlighting swastikas under the paper-thin guise of “curriculum.” Peak intellectual dishonesty from a party allergic to consistency.

Prioritizing Confederate nostalgia over queer survival isn’t governance—it’s state-sanctioned bigotry. When a kid’s suicide risk hinges on your performative flag ban, maybe revisit your moral compass. Spoiler: It’s spinning off its axis.

The Nazi flag isn’t history—it’s hate. Allowing its display “for education” while scrubbing Pride symbols reeks of ideological laundering. Textbook fascism wrapped in patriotic gaslighting.

But hey, at least they’re united in one thing: protecting straight kids from the trauma of… checks notes… fabric rainbows. Priorities!

The logic is Nazi flags are part of history so it’s a curriculum thing that allows it to be displayed as part of the lesson. So if you teach a lesson on the history of stone wall or obergefell v Hodges you can fly the flag? Nope, too woke

If that was the logic it raises the question of why we continue to ignore lgbtq+ history. Which leads us right back to the real reason.

“Our schools should be a place for children to learn, to not feel like they are being pushed or seen as agendas in one way other another as it pertains to political beliefs.”

So why are you pushing them to be nazis?

Are Mormons Nazis? Because Utah = Mormons. And this is what they are advocating? Asking as a Canadian.

Mormons are not Nazis. Any person that claims they are Mormon, and then acts like a Nazi, is not Mormon. That person is a Nazi. No person that actually follows the ideologies of that church will advocate for this. I see this as a litmus test to see who is Mormon and who is not, regardless of what they claim.

The state is dominated by Mormons in every facet is it not? These republican representatives reflect values of their voters do they not? You can’t possibly claim that somehow a small tiny minority radicals have taken control of the legislature and the state’s politics.

Lol, I say to you, random dude from, I assume, SLC.
