Saw this a few nights ago and it’s amazing. Prediction: it’s going to surpass Phantom of the Paradise as Winnipeg’s cult favourite film.
That is a bold claim.
Apropos of nothing, I watched “How It Ends” (pretty middling) the other night, not realizing it was filmed in Winnipeg. Pretty wild to see Skinner’s Wet 'N Wild pop up.
It’s playing at Polo Park. Sooooo worth it.
i must be a terrible Winnipegger, or maybe not super into the 70’s indie scene, but I’ve never heard of the connection between Phantom of the Paradise and Winnipeg before. kind of interesting.
anyways, Universal Language looks really interesting. i’ll have to give it a watch.
