Tariffs are from what I’ve read, according to economists anyway, a lose-lose for both parties. They’re apparently useful only for obvious things like targeted protection of specific vulnerable domestic industries. I cant begin to understand what Trump is even trying to accomplish here. Blanket tariffs seem just self-destructive.
He’s doing the equivalent of robbing a bank while wearing a suicide bomb vest. The only difference is that he’s threatening the world economy instead.
The fact that he hasn’t thought through the consequence chain afterwards is just him being stupid. Akin to a robber trying to pay the stolen money into his bank account, at the branch he robbed a few days before.

That’s correct. This is what they want. Drive stocks down, do a bunch of buybacks, scrap the tariffs, watch line go back up, profit.
Hopefully, the rest of the world will just go “Who are you? We already have that we need from these countries, so thanks, but no thanks” and the US will finally see that they fucked up royally.

The only way to win, is if people who have invested money aren’t afraid of losing it. Which of course almost nobody, because when gambling the house almost always wins. Which is to say an increasingly small minority get to win the lottery of a financially free life.

I feel like Trump voters knew exactly who and what they were voting for. Everyone told them, including Trump. Project 2025 was available for everyone to read but Trump even said, “To me the most beautiful word in the dictionary is 'tariff’.” There were no secrets this election.

I propose that they focus on the person. I personally don’t want to ruin our relationship with our partners overseas. Literally they have been awesome working with for 20 years.
But give it 4 years. The guy literally was president and lost but still doesn’t realize he’s not a king. He has to live in the America he builds. One without healthcare for the elderly or social security for the bankrupt.
The problem being that he is currently heading a superpower which is threatening economic and military force to achieve its goals, which apparently go against those partners.
Let’s use Ukraine as an example… Ukraine should locate Putin every day and say hello with a few random drones. I’m sure they try, but hey if they get that sucker, the war is over. There are so many soldiers dead and people without homes including women, children and old people. Why can’t wars be about removing the rich assholes that start wars? My cousin Alex didn’t start nothing, why should he get to pay extra to eat?
