The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) confirmed it has launched an investigation into the arrest that happened Jan. 31 in Mosakahiken Cree Nation.

A portion of that arrest was captured on video and has since been shared on social media. It shows an officer standing on a man’s chest. The man, whose hands appear to be restrained behind his back, is heard yelling about his heart.

In a release, RCMP said they are aware of the video but said it shows a “small portion” of the arrest, and confirmed the IIU had been notified.

We need more French blood, where people take to the streets until change happens

The RCMP aren’t a problem in Quebec?

Nope, because Quebec has its own provincial police force – the Sûreté du Québec – just like Ontario has the OPP instead of the RCMP.

We have been in Quebec since 1920. Back then, our officers used to enforce 40 federal statutes or so. One hundred years later, our mandate has evolved.

We lead major investigations in various fields, including: national and border security, financial integrity and organized crime. We share criminal intelligence with our partners in Quebec, Canada and worldwide. We protect Canadian politicians and foreign dignitaries while in Quebec.

We are proud to serve you throughout Quebec!

The RCMP “C” Division is the Royal Canadian Mounted Police division responsible for federal policing in the Province of Quebec. Approximately 1,500 police officers, civilian members, and public servants work to a number of different lines of effort, including financial integrity, national and border security, and organized crime enforcement.

Their power in Quebec is limited, ie: they don’t do traffic stops, etc.

The RCMP does exist in Québec, but the vast majority of enforcement is done by the SQ.
Here, an arrest like the one in the OP would most likely be done by the SQ and not by the RCMP.

“Vast majority” and “Most likely” supports my point, so thank you for the assist in demonstrating that 100% of provincial policing is not done by the SQ.

Please show me where I said that the RCMP doesn’t exist in Quebec.

If you can’t, and just read what you thought was there, it would be a good time to stop arguing.

                    Okay.

My question, posed to someone who isn’t you by the way:

The RCMP aren’t a problem in Quebec?

Since I can easily show you exactly where you said it, it would be a good time to stop arguing eh?

Where do you believe people from Quebec got their “French blood” from, and what makes you believe that you aren’t being an ignorant bigot right now?

Have you seen people from Quebec storming the Parliament? Have you watched France’s protests. Big difference between cultures even though they are a lineage. Genetics is not the only thing that defines a people, adopted culture is.
