Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Monday U.S. President Donald Trump will hold off on levying tariffs on Canada for at least 30 days after Canada made a series of commitments to improve security along the border.

The country can let out a collective sigh of relief — at least for now.

To get Trump to shelve his punishing tariffs, Trudeau said Canada is reinforcing the border with new choppers, technology and personnel and stepping up its co-ordination with American officials to stop the flow of fentanyl.

Yea, we don’t know what happened in the phone call. I don’t think Trump was expecting us to fight back, he would have taken any deal to safe face and say he won. The important part is that all of us don’t forget what happened. Regardless of what happens next month, America threatened us, we can’t go back to the way things were. I am going to continue to choose Canada first, fuck the States.

True, but it’s weird that Mexico got the exact same deal.

The important part is that all of us don’t forget what happened.

You’re totally right. We need to remove barriers to interprovincial trade and start looking for other trading partners. I hear the EU doesn’t buy much of our aluminum. Maybe it’s time for the feds to encourage that kind of export.
