wut? Biden just gave a speech full of warnings. I get it’s not blocking trump from the presidency, but do we really need to make new shit up to blame them for? Don’t we have more than enough real things already?

Correction: People bend over backwards to move blame away from themselves. Anyone in power is just an easy target. It’s why democratic presidents are blamed during times of progress because there’s not enough progress.

They just want to blame mainstream Democrats so that the far left gains power. Even if it makes for shittier short and long term politics.

Building a greater coalition is basically the only path forward in these times.

And the progressives lost to the Democrats in purely leftist contests in 2022, 2018 and other elections.

Switching over to a group who can’t even consistently win a Senator or House seat is the wrong move.

Until you show some political muscle, I don’t trust you either with defeating Trump or other groups. Prove yourselves in 2026 if you want me to take you seriously by 2028.

The only lesson I learned is that the far left are backstabbers who will chant Free Palestine and fuck up their own party, rather than come together to fight Trump.

I’m Republican. The country has moved so far right that I’m basically joining the Democrats now.

But ignore that at your own peril. Pretend that you can just convince people on internet platforms that no one is using. Meanwhile Zuckerberg is using AI bots to hypnotize the masses while Elon Musk replicates the door-knocking campaign with $300,000,000+ in SuperPAC money.

The obvious play is to bow my head towards Zuckerberg (and similar Billionaires) to support the Democrats instead actually. That’s the political reality of the current circumstances.

But golly it sure seems like going Right worked well for Republicans!

Funny how I heard the same concerns about Trump lol.

Nothing like a Third Way enlightened centrist who thinks we should water down factual policy to cater with ignorance on the right. It’s worked so well! Back to Hillary, amirite?

In fact let’s just run it back with a Hillary / Harris ticket, only this time we go to the right of Republicans!

I’m a former rural Republican by the way.

Your concerns don’t matter vs the media machine that is Facebook, WashPo, LA Times, TikTok, Twitter and more.

The simple fact is that the Left has lost every single media. Literally all of them.

I completely agree, but I don’t believe these points are mutually exclusive.

We lost them partly (but not exclusively) because we never stood by what we believed in. We just looked like Republican-lite; a spineless version of Republicans.

Since I was replying to a comment I’d like to point out that the American Democratic party is a centrist party or even right of center. It is composed of people who are more highly educated on average and who have an active role in our capitalist economy. I have a hunch that when they refer to the far-left they are just referring to the left.

I interpret your comment to mean that only the left is advocating for the left to gain power, which was my point as well. My only comment here is that nobody to the right of the left is trying to put the left in power. The opposite is true with certainty.

They gave plenty of statements of caution before the election, and most of the country simply didn’t care. So now we reap what we have sown. We did this to ourselves.

More like almost 70% of us did it to everyone else. 77.3 million people voted for Trump, and about 90 million people just straight up didn’t vote. They’re to blame as well.

Yeah I can’t even blame them. The right control everything already, including what the vast majority of Americans see.

Let’s just pretend if Democrats tried to do something similar to Jan 6. My god you would hear about it every day, 24/7 across all social media platforms, fox news, etc. The megaphone of the right is unmatched. There would be military tribunals Republicans would declare literal war on the traitorous scum.

Ultimately, at this point it boils down to a choice: either abandon the principles of democracy and cling to power, or transfer power peacefully to the next government. Biden and Harris ain’t gonna do option 1, nor should they. We should have to face the consequences of our idiotic actions. So, since they’re going to peacefully transfer power, at this point, it’s all about preserving whatever shreds of their own legacy they’ve got left. And to whinge and moan at this point would be beneath their dignity.

They lost. They’re adults. They’re bummed about it, but they’re going to keep a stiff upper lip and not degrade themselves.

      Who’s “we”?

      Who’s “we” motherfucker?

You best understand that I’m not part of your fucking “we”. I did not do this to myself, nor did I do this to any of my friends. We did what we knew how. We most certainly did not do this to ourselves, and personally I’m not going to just shrug and sigh and lay down and take it.

America’s chosen government doesn’t see me or many of my friends as human because we’re trans and you’re saying “we” must reap what “we” have sown, as if we are somehow responsible for our own persecution. That’s victim blaming. That’s what spineless people say when they have no real skin in the game. That’s what people say when they’re too scared to speak up. That’s coward shit.

Well, I refuse to take responsibility for this trash. I refuse to take responsibility for the abuse I and my friends will likely be subjected to in the coming years. Nor do I have the option to just lay down and take it.

      Fuck your “we”.

“We” here clearly refers to the country as a whole, which you know. So why are you directing this rage at someone who’s probably on your side, even agrees with you, and was backed into a grammatical corner due to english’s lack of nuanced collective nouns? Do you seriously think alienating some of our few allies with aggressively performative rage is going to keep your friends safe?

We all feel like this, we’re all scared for what this fascist fuck might do to us & ours, so don’t make it harder for everyone by taking your anger out on people who are just venting their frustration and worry to the universe.

I think you took my post in a spirit other than which it was intended, and then just sprinted away with it.

We, in the terms of my post, is Americans. We voted for Donald Trump, whether it was casting a ballot for him directly, voting 3rd party, or just failing to show up. 75 million people voted for Harris, but that wasn’t enough. 77.3 million voted for Trump, and around 90 million people who could have voted simply did not vote at all. So basically, of the eligible voting population, only around 31% of us voted for Harris. 69% of us either couldn’t be fucked to vote at all, or voted for that fat orange piece of shit.

So… we deserve what we voted for.

Note that in the above, the “we” includes you, but does not blame you. It sounds like you did what you could to prevent it, but it simply wasn’t enough. Not enough people cared. Now we all have to suffer.

That might be a poor example, since Palpatine used the attempts on his life as a political weapon. We don’t know how things would have gone if the Jedi explained their actions and garnered support before moving to arrest.
